New Conveyor Bowls for Thousand Kernel Weight Measurements
As accessories to the counting machines elmor C1 and C3 a new model of conveyor bowl is available now. In contrast to the well-known bowls with helical ramp, on which the counting material is carried to the discharge opening at the top of the bowl, the new bowls have a product outlet at the bottom. Short time after a product change the bowl is ready; the waiting period, until the conventional conveyor bowls are filled, does not occur. An adjustable slide at the exit of the bowl permits the regulation of the product flow rate, so that also with this principle a good singularising quality and by it a high accuracy can be achieved.
The new bowl is intended for products such as Canola, Grain, Corn, Soy etc. and for applications with frequent product changes, e.g. with the determination of the Thousand Kernel Weight. With grain sizes under approx. 2mm diameters or for products, which can be singularised badly, the proven helical conveyor bowls can be used.

Single Grain Spender

The possibility for exact spending single grains with the elmor C1 counter opens new ranges of application.

The new counting machine elmor C1 can be equipped with a device to dump single grains. After receiving of an external release signal this device spends exactly one individual part. This module is designed to automatically feed parts to scientific equipments or to weigh automatically small articles like grains or pills etc.

The cadence amounts to maximally 3 pieces per second. The diameter of the parts can be 0.5mm or larger. With the application as automatic single single seed weigher (Check Weigher) the smallest parts size is given by the resolution of the balance, usually to 1mg or 100 microgram.

C1 Seedcounter designed to be an Ecologically Friendly Product

Besides the fact that our seed counters fulfil an important role in many projects with ecological background, the new counters elmor C1 inflict themselves a minimum impact on the environment.
The counters elmor C1 are characterised by the following attributes:

  • Newest state of electronic art
  • Economical use of energy by using components with highest efficiency
  • No standby power consumption
  • Longevity and therefore preservation of "grey energy"
  • The used materials can easily be recycled to a large extent
  • Consideration of the specifications ROHS /WEEE
  • Use of solvent-free coatings

Automatic determination of the reference weight

Determination of the reference weight with the elmor C3 counter

When using counting scales the reference weight of a given part must be determined very accurately in each case. Normally a certain number of parts are weighed; afterwards the average weight is calculated. This procedure has practical limits e.g. with very irregular parts like seeds or with parts within the mg range and/or with dimensions under 1mm, e.g. loose SMD parts.

In these cases, a large quantity of sample parts must be weighed to get a representative average value, but the small and light parts can hardly be handled manually.

With an elmor C3-Counter and a precision scale the reference weight can be determined automatically. A large sample size (e.g. a few 100 or more) can be chosen to achieve a high statistical relevance. The number of the counted parts and the determined weight are transferred to a PC which computes the reference weight directly. The normally faulty manual operations (using a wrong quantity, typing errors when dividing the measured weight by the number of parts, reading wrong values of weight or reference weight) are eliminated; the determined average weight can directly be used by other applications. All relevant values are stored for retraceability.

Milled conveyor bowls for the counting devices elmor C1, C3 and CX

The counting devices elmor C1, elmor C3 and elmor CX are now supplied with a new developed conveyor bowl. This universally adjustable bowl can convey and singularise parts with a size from 0.1 to 18mm. Additional bowls are only necessary in exceptional cases, e.g. with parts with extreme dimensions or shapes.

The conveyor bowls are manufactured on a 5-axis milling machine with highest precision. The surface is colorless anodized. If needed - for instance if food or medical products are counted - the bowls can be coated with a special protective layer.
